Worked example: covering 50m²
A 50m² area is covered exactly by one heavy-duty 2m × 25m roll at about £34.95, plus a pack of pegs. The same area in standard fabric costs less upfront but won't survive path traffic — the calculator shows both options priced so you can judge the trade-off.
Standard spunbond (the light, fleece-like fabric) is fine under bark and mulch in beds. Anything walked or driven on — paths, gravel drives, under decking — needs heavy-duty woven fabric, which resists puncturing and lasts 20+ years.
