Worked example: family lawn
A rectangular lawn 6m × 5m is 30m². With 5% wastage that's 31.5m², so 32 rolls. The calculator also shows grass seed pricing for the same area — often a quarter of the cost.
One standard UK roll covers 1m². Add 5% for cuts and curves — 10% if your lawn is an awkward shape.
