Privacy Policy
The short version: the calculators run on your device, we collect as little as possible, and the site is funded by clearly-marked ads and merchant links. The detail:
What we collect
- Calculations: everything you type into the calculators (measurements, material choices) is processed in your browser and is not sent to or stored on our servers.
- Project boards, price settings and job templates are saved in your own browser's local storage on your device — we never see them unless you choose to share a board or save an estimate.
- Shared project boards and saved estimates: if you email, share or save a project or estimate, the contents of that board (product names, quantities, prices) are stored so the shared link keeps working.
- Contact form and feedback: if you send us a message, we store your name, email address and message so we can read it and reply.
- Trade accounts: if you register, we store your name, business details, email address, saved estimates, invoices and payment details so the trade tools work for you.
How we use it
- To run the calculators, boards, estimates and invoice tools you ask for.
- To reply to messages you send us.
- To understand how the site is used (in aggregate) so we can improve it — see Analytics below.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Cookies and local storage
- Essential storage: the site uses your browser's local storage to remember your project board, custom prices, templates and trade sign-in session. These never leave your device except where a feature explicitly saves them to your account.
- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to count visits and page views.
- Advertising cookies: Google AdSense may set cookies to serve and measure ads — see the advertising section below.
- You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; the calculators will still work, though saved boards and sign-in sessions will be forgotten.
Google Analytics
- We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visitor numbers, popular pages and rough locations (country/city level). Google processes this data on our behalf.
- Analytics data is aggregated — we use it to see trends, not to identify individuals.
- You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with Google's browser add-on (search “Google Analytics opt-out”).
Google AdSense and advertising
- This site displays ads served by Google AdSense to keep the tools free. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
- You can turn off personalised advertising at any time in Google's Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com). You will still see ads, but they won't be tailored to you.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits. For more detail, see Google's Privacy & Terms page (“How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”).
Affiliate links and deal tracking
- Deal cards link to merchant websites (marked as sponsored). When you click one, we count the click anonymously so we know which offers are useful, and the merchant may pay us a small commission at no cost to you.
Your rights
- Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how it's used. Trade account data can be removed on request — note this deletes saved estimates and invoices.
- To make any request, use the contact page and we'll respond within 30 days.
Data security and retention
- Data is stored with reputable cloud providers and access is restricted to the site owner. Contact messages are kept for up to 12 months; trade records are kept while your account is active.
- No website can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.
Changes to this policy
- If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted on this page. Last updated: October 2026.
